Suor Angelica is a one-act opera by Puccini which tells the story of a young girl who, after bearing an illegitimate child, gets put into a cloister. Now, seven years later she finds out from her aunt that her son could not be helped... We know that Puccinis sister was a nun living in a cloister near his home in Torre del Lago and that he received special permission to play it at the piano for the nuns while singing all the parts himself!
